Can't get 2001-2005 Out of Our Heads - Come and commemorate the early Noughties at our next WHiST Across the Decades Event
Our next WHiST Across the Decades event will be held in our coffee bar on Thursday 19th November 3-6pm.
We'll be looking at the years 2001-2005, five years which saw the birth of the Pop Stars/X Factor type talent shows. Meanwhile Uma Thurman was out to "Kill Bill", while Kylie sang "Can't Get You Out of My Head" and Beyonce was "Crazy in Love". The Sugababes were branding themselves like the Powerpuff Girls, and Shrek and Bratz dolls debuted. Sure Start centres were bringing some positive benefits to young families, and Ellen McArthur made sailing history.
It may have looked like lots of optimistic and glittery fun, except for overshadowing world events such as 9/11 and the 2003 war in Iraq. We certainly were living through "interesting times" ...
So come along on 19th November for more of the usual historically themed quiz questions, activities, poetry, music and food. As this is the heritage event that's closest to Christmas, we've promised a bit of tinselly fun - including a Christmas disco and singalong.
